CMR Construction And Roofing

I entered into a contract with CMR in March 2023 after Joey Scott knocked on my door, promising they could help me get an insurance claim and fix my roof. He assured me they'd connect me with a lawyer, and I signed the contract, trusting them. Fast forward 19 months, and although I now have a settlement check, this company has turned out to be an absolute nightmare. CMR is facing serious cash flow issues, which is evident not just from online reviews but from firsthand horror stories, like my neighbor who had to wait three years to get her roof fixed.

Now, after all this time, I'm trying to cancel the contract and am hit with the outrageous demand of a 25% cancellation fee something Joey Scott conveniently failed to mention when I signed the contract. This is unethical, dishonest, and downright predatory. My insurance claim came to $26,000 (after a deductible of $6,800), and the quote CMR gave me was magically the exact amount needed- $32,800. How convenient! This reeks of manipulation and deceit. To add insult to injury, I've gotten 10 other quotes for the same work, all ranging between $17,000 and $21,000.

CMR is now trying to squeeze $8,200 from me — a hefty 25% of the $26,000 settlement and my deductible combined — just for canceling. This is robbery, plain and simple. My goal now is to make sure no one else gets trapped by this sham of a company. CMR Construction and Roofing is a disgrace to the roofing industry, preying on people who can't afford such massive out-of-pocket expenses.

Worst roofing company ever! This began in fall 2022, from the point of the 'no solicitation' warning to them and a speech from a persistent salesman ending with 'Tasman'.

They entered our community and assured us that our 25-year-old roof was in dire need and our roof tiles were discontinued. There were red flags everywhere during this lengthy and bitter process. CMR initially attempted an insurance claim with our homeowners who rejected them initially, then on the second attempt, an insurance liaison attorney stepped in. He settled with them on a huge amount, more than twice the cost of an actual roof replacement, and took our initial deposit.

In fall 2023, we then received an insurance notice of non-renewal saying either replace your roof or we will drop you as long-time customers for good. Little did we know until we researched further, their BBB rating had sunk down to Revoked *** early January 2024, with numerous complaints(hundreds of them). This particular BBB profile obviously had been cleaned out. Numerous run-arounds with many CMR personnel, empty promises, exaggerated claim amounts given by their attorney for a huge settlement, and paperwork sent to us to have our approval on placing our property on lien, just in case CMR could not pay for their workers.

No! After hearing many other complaints about roof work not done, we could not go forward. So our deposit is lost because this is their so-called 25% cancellation fee. We went to another roofer who did our rooftop within two months of signed paperwork.

Don't bother with this dishonest, insurance scammer! They will try all means to grab your money and run with it!

This business has the same practice as other complaint, comes to your door for roof inspection and free roof replacement offer, once you signed then the game starts. They recommend their lawyers firms and you are screwed.

I am also in same boat as others almost three years tarped on roof.

If you try to cancel the contract then they start asking for 25% (hidden clause, no one from CMR will mention those). They don't deserve a single penny.

Did anyone have luck with attorney general complaints?, I initiating a complain to state attroney general.

Date of Transaction - March 2023 Amount Given- 46,890.00$ Complete reroof by July. Nature of Dispute- We were told that if we gave them this downpayment money that are supplies would be ordered and our roof would be started in Mid-July 2023.

We have emails regarding this. Thus, this is the reason we went with CMR construction because we need to put our house on the Market immediately. We had other damage to our cage and screens that can't be repaired until the roof is completed. This is causing us extreme financial and psychological stress.

No, they have not tried to resolve the problem. We have had a very hard time speaking with anyone from CMR and when we do they make all sorts of excuses. We have been told by the higher ups that it would be expedited. They always promise a call back with a time set to begin and weeks go by without hearing anything and us not being able to get ahold of anyone.

We were told they were waiting on city permit, so we called city and the permit had been there for over a month. We were told waiting on supplies.

We called the supplier directly and he said our roof supplies have been there for months but that they haven't received any money from CMR . # 54-8270

Company comes around during storms with young fellas offering free roof inspections. I guess this is a positive side of the story as is if they really found damage to my roof I wouldn't know otherwise.

They go offer their "Program to get your roof paid at no cost to homeowners". This is where the problem starts. You will sign a contract that say that you will pay them 25% of any money you receive regardless if you contract them for the work. Once you sign they recommend their partner lawyers and start the process of law suit.

In my experience CMR went MIA after that. They called me once in a while to give me a worthless "update" telling me the same thing I got from the lawyers days or even a week earlier. BTW the law firm will tell you they work for you and not CMR, Many times the lawyer stated that communication with CMR "is very bad" and asked me to attempt to reach out to them myself too. They never responded to messages or calls.

For the 1 or 2 that they responded it was after a week of continuous calls and messages. ~3 years went by with 2 scary hurricane seasons. Since neither I nor the attorney could get a hold of CMR to discuss how much they were willing to take for the repairs, I had to accept a settlement amount based on another roofer's estimate (2x lower than CMR). Once the settlement was done and the check was in process, CMR started to call and email me very often, I wish they were like that during the process and not leave me to dry.

I 1000% regret having bump into CMR. Worse experience ever.
