CMR Construction And Roofing

Date of Transaction - March 2023 Amount Given- 46,890.00$ Complete reroof by July. Nature of Dispute- We were told that if we gave them this downpayment money that are supplies would be ordered and our roof would be started in Mid-July 2023.

We have emails regarding this. Thus, this is the reason we went with CMR construction because we need to put our house on the Market immediately. We had other damage to our cage and screens that can't be repaired until the roof is completed. This is causing us extreme financial and psychological stress.

No, they have not tried to resolve the problem. We have had a very hard time speaking with anyone from CMR and when we do they make all sorts of excuses. We have been told by the higher ups that it would be expedited. They always promise a call back with a time set to begin and weeks go by without hearing anything and us not being able to get ahold of anyone.

We were told they were waiting on city permit, so we called city and the permit had been there for over a month. We were told waiting on supplies.

We called the supplier directly and he said our roof supplies have been there for months but that they haven't received any money from CMR . # 54-8270

Company comes around during storms with young fellas offering free roof inspections. I guess this is a positive side of the story as is if they really found damage to my roof I wouldn't know otherwise.

They go offer their "Program to get your roof paid at no cost to homeowners". This is where the problem starts. You will sign a contract that say that you will pay them 25% of any money you receive regardless if you contract them for the work. Once you sign they recommend their partner lawyers and start the process of law suit.

In my experience CMR went MIA after that. They called me once in a while to give me a worthless "update" telling me the same thing I got from the lawyers days or even a week earlier. BTW the law firm will tell you they work for you and not CMR, Many times the lawyer stated that communication with CMR "is very bad" and asked me to attempt to reach out to them myself too. They never responded to messages or calls.

For the 1 or 2 that they responded it was after a week of continuous calls and messages. ~3 years went by with 2 scary hurricane seasons. Since neither I nor the attorney could get a hold of CMR to discuss how much they were willing to take for the repairs, I had to accept a settlement amount based on another roofer's estimate (2x lower than CMR). Once the settlement was done and the check was in process, CMR started to call and email me very often, I wish they were like that during the process and not leave me to dry.

I 1000% regret having bump into CMR. Worse experience ever.

CMR was the only company we could get in touch with after Ian damaged our roof. Actually, a salesman showed up on our doorstep.

We were ignorant about how much a new roof would cost because no one else could come to give us an estimate. He claimed there would be "no out-of-pocket" expense for us. I asked him, what if our homeowners insurance doesn't cover everything? The CMR representative said -Well, sometimes that happens.

We will cover the extra cost in that case. A second salesman came and made the same promise, so we signed a contract, which we would have never signed if we foresaw the nightmare we were headed for. Unfortunately, we did not get that promise in writing! After that, it was back and forth with CMR and our insurance company.

CMR kept trying to get them to pay the amount we weren't covered for. This went on for months! And no ordering of materials or work had been started. So finally we had other roofing companies come and give estimates.

They were all about $6,000.00 less than CMR. And a lot faster. We tried to break the contract, but it would have cost us about 4,000.00, the amount we weren't covered for. At long last, the roofers are here, working on the installation and trying to fix the huge leak they caused in the seam between the metal roof and the shingle roof, which CMR is replacing.

And CMR emailed us a bill two days ago for the amount of $4,000.00, payable upon receipt.

This is absolutely the worst experience we've ever had with any company. Period!
